| Neva Masquerade is the name given to the colour-point variety of the Siberian cat. Colour is the only difference between these cats, in size and temperament they are just the same. Neva Masquerades are described as heavy-bodied cats with broad cheekbones and rounded muzzles. They should have a short strong neck and broad chest. The body is of medium length in a rectangular format. The ears are of medium size and set wide apart. The eyes are slightly oval and set level. Their coat is semi-longhaired with a dense undercoat, long ruff and trousers and a broad, bushy tail. Neva Masquerades are accepted in all colours with and without white except cinnamon and fawn. All eye colours are allowed including blue. |
The Neva Masquerade variety was developed in the St. Petersburg area and there is some debate as to when the colourpoint gene was introduced. Nevertheless the Neva Masquerade or Siberian colourpoint is a breed recognised by all the major cat fancies worldwide.
